Public Bath in Dormy Inn Ikebukuro
1) Great public bath/onsen. Although only two large hot springs, they were spacious. One was semi-outdoors. Both opened overnight. Very comfortable and did not feel crowded even with >10 people in the area. 2) Free ramen supper 9;30pm-11pm. Good quality noodles. Staff very welcoming. 3) Free probiotic drinks in the morning and free ice cream/ice-blocks at night. Both quality stuff. They never ran out during supply time period. 4) Room (twin) was spacious. The double rooms were smaller though. 5) Nice bathroom. 6) Convenient store within 30 seconds walking distance. 7) Hotel was clean. 8) Staff able to communicate with English. 9) Free supply of toothbrush/toothpaste/razor/comb (different types)/cotton buds. 10) I left our luggage at the hotel prior to check in; as well as when we changed room (checked out and checked in again later that day). In both occasions staff already placed our suitcases in the room. Outstanding service. 11) Washing machine (5-6) available free of charge; drying machine 100yen for 20mins (enough to dry most clothes within one round) - need to get a key from reception.

Great little hotel and great location. Its a standard small Japanese hotel room, but it is well laid out and my girl and I didnt feel to cramped. We love staying at Dormy Inn's because of the on site onsen and this hotel has a perfect little onsen on the 12th floor. Everything you need. The sauna is HOT, the cold bath is 15 degrees and the outdoor pool is NICE and a perfect temperature! We love that the laundry room is right next to the onsen so it's easy to drop your clothes off before you go into bathe. They also have free ice deserts and vending machines and it's nice to have a 220 yen high ball before going into the onsen. It's a very smartly designed hotel and we love staying at them. We thought the 15 min walk from the train station would be a chore, but it's all restaurants in between the station and the hotel so it's perfect at night to grab some food on the way home. We were pleasantly surprised with how fun the Ikebukuro area was. It's like a mini-shinjuku.

I’m a fan of the Dormy Inn chain and this must be my favorite so far in terms of location. It’s a bit of a walk to Ikebukuro Station but you do pass through Sunshine Dori which is very lively so it’s not bad, I hardly felt the walk. And then from Ikebukuro Station you can go anywhere. If you’re an anime fan, the hotel location is perfect as it’s literally a few steps away from a bunch of K-BOOKS and Animate. The airport limpusine also stops at a nearby hotel so that’s a convenient way to get to or from the airport. Other than location, facilities are excellent: fully-equipped public bath with a fun little shampoo bar, free ice cream, free ramen, free yogurt drink, coffee machine, vending machines, luggage weighing scale, even money exhange machine! The staff are nice and they allow you to leave your bags at the reception before check in or after check out. Everything is extremely clean.

Wonderful and fragrant Onsen and sauna, as well as complementary popsicles to cool off afterwards outside! The experience was exceptionally relaxing and refreshing. There is also free ramen for dinner available too, which was simple but nice. The location is good: a few minutes walk away from the station (Ikebukuro) which was convenient when arriving, departing, and commuting during our stay. The area itself is also good, being only a few stops away from popular destinations within Tokyo, as well as good food and coffee places nearby. The beds were comfortable, and the staff were accommodating and hospitable: they were happy to give us extra pillows (soft), managed to locate and return our lost property when we accidentally left something after checking out, as well as being available at odd hours.

I had read so many comments about the various districts in Tokyo and got lucky with this one! I noticed, in several reviews, a few negative comments about the distance from the station. In reality, it is a gentle 10-15 min stroll with just a couple of crossings - how close do you want to be? The hotel is surrounded by myriad shops and eateries with a quirky but easy going vibe. Of course it’s a dormy so you will be well looked after. It was much pricier (3x) other dormy inns I’d stayed in but it’s Tokyo and that’s the going rate! I enjoyed everything about the hotel and the district…I’ll be back hopefully.
